Why Sustainability Is At Our Core

Every choice we make has an impact- on animals, people, and the environment. At Company of Animals, our mission is clear: to enrich the lives of pets and people through innovative, best-in-class products and services. As we continue to fulfil our mission, we are equally committed to ensuring that our impact on the world around us is positive and lasting. This commitment is embodied in our sustainability initiative, COA Embark, which is guided by four core principles: People, Planet, Pets, and Policy.

At Company of Animals, we are driven by our core values- Be Kind. Be Fair. Be Bold. These values guide us as we work to create a more sustainable and compassionate world, enriching the lives of pets, people, and the planet alike. Together, we embark on this journey, committed to making a difference.

In this blog, you’ll discover how Embark shapes our global brands- Halti, Baskerville, Coachi, Pet Head, and Pet Corrector- into stewards of animal welfare, social responsibility, and environmental care. You’ll also learn about our Surrey farm tree-planting and solar panel efforts, our verified metrics to date, and practical steps you can take as a pet parent to support a greener future.

Our Approach: The Four Pillars of COA Embark

Why It Matters

We’ve built some of the most trusted brands in pet care. That brings responsibility. Pets are part of the family, and we believe caring for them shouldn’t come at the cost of the planet or the people behind the products.

Embark Is Stronger with our Partnerships

Sustainability is a shared responsibility-one that connects manufacturers, suppliers, distributors, retailers, veterinary professionals, and pet parents. Embark brings us all together to co-create innovative materials, establish transparent sourcing standards, and pioneer eco-friendly packaging solutions that set new benchmarks.
For pet parents, it’s about the confidence you feel with every choice-whether you’re fitting your dog with a Halti harness for a calmer walk or selecting one of our bottles off the shelf knowing each product is crafted with care and integrity. When we come together, share our experiences, and uphold these standards, Embarks influence grows, guiding the entire pet-care community toward a brighter, more sustainable tomorrow.

Company Of Animals Sustainability Highlights (2023 to Present)

To track our progress and hold ourselves accountable, we measure the real-world impact of Embarks initiatives. Below are some of the key sustainability milestones we’ve achieved since 2023-proof points that Embark is more than a promise, it’s driving genuine change

With these early wins under our belt, it’s time to dive deeper into how Embark’s four pillars-Planet, People, Pets, and Policy-translate into concrete actions.
Read on to see the detailed breakdown of our initiatives, from cutting emissions and championing ethical supply chains to putting animal welfare first and embedding integrity into every partnership.

Planet: Minimising Our Environmental Footprint

We’re reducing our environmental footprint across packaging, materials, and logistics: Full Scope 1 & 2 carbon reporting now in place with Scope 3 in development.

Investment in:

Renewable Energy: Our solar panels at the head offices generated 38,900 kWh in 2023.

Carbon Savings: Those panels saved 8,054 kg CO₂,

Carbon Offset through Tree Planting: On our 100-acre Surrey farm at Ruxbury, we’ve planted native trees to help absorb emissions and restore local biodiversity.

People: Building a Fair, Inclusive Community

We’re working to make our global supply chain more ethical and transparent:

Community Recycling: At our head offices and Pet Centre, customer recycling bins make it simple for visitors and neighbours to recycle pet-related waste.

Diversity, Inclusion & Human Rights: Guided by our Global Diversity and Inclusion Policy and Global Human Rights Policy, ensuring every colleague and supplier enjoys a respectful, equitable environment.

Pets: Putting Animal Welfare First

Pet welfare is at the heart of our product development:

Design for Durability & Comfort: From Halti headcollars and no-pull harnesses to Baskerville muzzles, Coachi clickers and treat bags, Pet Head grooming sprays, and the trusted Pet Corrector—each Halti, Baskerville, Coachi, Pet Head and Pet Corrector item is engineered to deliver enduring performance, dependable safety, and unbeatable comfort for your pet.

Community Care: Recycling bins at the Pet Centre and our green farm spaces remind us that healthy pets and a healthy planet go hand in hand.

Policy: Leading with Transparency & Integrity

We’re embedding sustainability into decisions and partnerships:

Member of the Pet Sustainability Coalition (PSC) to track, measure, and improve our environmental and social impact.

We’ve joined forces with the Pet Sustainability Coalition (PSC) to tap into a global network of pet-care leaders, share best practices, and use their robust benchmarking tools-so we can not only measure our environmental and social impact but accelerate collective progress across the entire industry.

Anti-Corruption Policy: Our zero-tolerance approach ensures honesty and integrity in every transaction.

Supplier Code of Conduct: Based on our Global Human Rights Policy, requiring fair labour, safe conditions, and environmental stewardship-verified by audits.

Lifecycle Transparency: Enhancing clarity around each product’s entire journey-from its place of manufacture and the materials used to end-of-life disposal instructions.

Collaborating with our retail and distribution partners to elevate packaging design and sourcing criteria throughout the supply chain.
