Mugford’s Meadow - Dog Walking Field

Please make sure you have read the SITE INFORMATION & RULES BEFORE you book.

This meadow is designed to be a biodiverse field for plants, trees, wild animals, and dogs. The grassy area was sown with flowers and grasses in the summer of 2024. It will develop over time to become a productive habitat for insects, amphibians, and small mammals.

Our 8 acre fenced field, is available for private hire, by the hour for dog walking at Ruxbury Farm, St Ann’s Hill Road, Chertsey, Surrey, KT16 9NL.

DIRECTIONS

When you turn in the gate at Ruxbury Farm, turn left & follow the track (passing the grass paddock then the sand arena & buildings on your right). It is signposted ‘Agility Arena’. PLEASE NOTE 5mph speed limit (there maybe horses, farm machinery on this track).

Continue straight passing the agility arena on right, the agility fields on both left & right.

At the top of the track, continue through the gate & follow the track to the left over the bridge (with the motorway below). As you come off the bridge, you will see the field straight in front of you (with green gate & large green shelter).

IMPORTANT

If there is a vehicle already inside the field, then please park to the left (not blocking any gate ways) & wait for the other person to leave before entering the field. DO NOT GET YOUR DOG(s) OUT OF THE CAR UNTIL YOU ARE IN THE FIELD & the gate is shut.

Once the field is free, please park inside the field & shut the gate.

SITE INFORMATION & RULES

Whilst the field is fully fenced, please ensure that you are happy it will contain your dog(s) particularly if they are small, prone to escaping or you do not have a reliable recall.

We allow a maximum of 4 dogs per handler in the field at any one time. You are welcome to share your booking with a friend but please stick to the 4 to 1 maximum ratio.

We welcome XL Bully’s & other ‘banned breeds’, however, if bringing a banned breed, they must only be walked by their registered owner and only with other people or dogs from that owner’s household. You will also need to provide us with sight of your exemption certificate on your first booking.

Please pick up your dog’s poo & place it in the bins provided or take it home.

Please do not walk your dog anywhere else on site, including other tracks or fields.

THE FIELD

Feel free to walk anywhere in the field , but the first grassy area is a recently reseeded meadow flower area and we would rather you did most of the walking and boisterous play amongst the trees where the grass is better established. Please do try to avoid damage to the trees though (they will be a lovely wooded area to walk in once they have grown).

Please do not discard litter in our field.

There is a water tap inside the field & a paddling pool for dogs.

Please do not allow your dogs into the wildlife pond (which is fenced off). This is also new but is already home to frogs & newts which we are keen to preserve.

There are bee hives at the top of the field (again, these are fenced off) please ensure children & dogs stay away from the hives.

At some times of the year, there maybe sheep or other livestock in the adjoining fields, if you feel this will be a problem for you or your dog then please check before booking.

TOILETS

There is a toilet in the Agility Field parking area (sign posted) or in the main office as you first come in the front gate (this may not be open outside of normal office hours).

PLEASE LEAVE YOUR DOG IN YOUR CAR IF YOU ARE VISITING THE TOILET.
