By coming to our Pet Centre we can create a safe and constructive environment based on your specific behavioural issue and needs. For example, if your dog has a problem with other dogs then we have "stooge" dogs belonging to staff that can be responsibly introduced. Fiona Whelan
Fiona has been working at the Pet Centre as a dog behaviour specialist since 2002, and previously ran her own training and behaviour establishment in Lincolnshire for seven years so has a wealth of experience as a behaviour counsellor. Fiona studied Animal Science and Kennel and Cattery management at De Montfort University and is a full member of The CFBA (Canine & Feline Behaviour Association). She's a regular contributor in veterinary publications as well as being a popular speaker at veterinary congresses. Fiona has always been passionate about rescue animals and her current menagerie includes; a horse, two rescue cats, two tortoises, and four dogs including an Australian Cattle Dog (that is profoundly deaf). She enjoys competing at dog agility in her spare time.
Dr Roger Mugford
Dr Roger is a world renowned animal psychologist specialising in canine behavioural therapy and science. He introduced the concept of behavioural therapy to the veterinary profession by founding The Animal Behaviour Centre in 1979 which has since become the leading authority in the behavioural therapy field and has seen over 100,000 pets. A decorated academic, Roger Bachelor obtained a Science Degree in Zoology and Psychology, followed by a Research Doctorate in Philosophy from the University of Hull with a thesis on aggression in animals. Roger went on to the University of Pennsylvania in the US and began research on the behaviour of dogs and cats, again with a particular interest in their social and aggressive behaviour. Roger continues to make waves in the canine behaviour world and dedicates his career to improving and enriching the lives of pets and their owners. Roger enjoys nothing more than spending time with family, colleagues and clients (animal and human!) on Ruxbury Farm.
