Join us to learn how to teach your puppy to become a well-behaved dog you can be proud of. Your puppy will learn to respond to you in the presence of the many distractions on Ruxbury Farm.

• A six-week training course for puppies between the ages of five and ten months at start date
• Each class is one hour
• Purpose-built indoor and outdoor training areas
• Maximum of six puppies in a class
• Includes Puppy Training Pack; clicker, puppy house line, treat bag and treats
• Training guide provided
• Opportunity to train amongst our friendly farm animals (weather and daylight permitting)
• Content: play biting, toilet training, chewing furnishings, jumping up, controlled puppy play, bedtime routine and socialisation. Also covers all the necessary exercises for your puppy to become a well-behaved dog e.g. sit, down, settle, come, stay, heel, leave, drop, good manners, and much more!!

Introduction of puppies and owners. How to use a marker (clicker or word). How to address unwanted puppy behaviour i.e. playbiting, housetraining, chewing etc

Sit, recall, loose lead walking, settle, dogs and the law

Recap of week 2. Handling puppy's body, down and touch

Recap of weeks 2-3. Release cue, leave, stay/wait, resource guarding, handling using equipment i.e. clippers, brushes, muzzles etc

Senior Trainer

New to the Animal Behaviour Centre team, Rebecca, who brings with her a host of experience. With a BSc in Animal Science from Plymouth University, a FdSc in Animal Health and City and Guilds instructor qualification, Rebecca is also a NASDU qualified dog handler and licensed by the SIA. Growing up on a farm in Cornwall Rebecca has always had working dogs trained in herding and Gundog trials including her own Springer Spaniel, Troy. Passionate about rescue, rehabilitation and re-homing, Rebecca has worked with various charities to help many dogs with a troubled history to find their forever home. Rebecca also spends her time breeding and training Belgian Malinois for military personnel as well as competing in high-end dog sports across Europe such as IPG and KNPV with her own Malinois, Chase.
